Millions of Amazon Prime members across the United States could still be eligible to receive compensation from a major legal settlement, but time is running out to submit a claim. The settlement follows a lengthy legal dispute over allegations that Amazon enrolled some customers into Prime memberships without clear consent and made it unnecessarily difficult for them to cancel their subscriptions. Although Amazon denied any wrongdoing, the company agreed to a multi-billion-dollar settlement to resolve the case without continuing the legal battle.
For customers who believe they may qualify, the deadline to file a claim is July 27, 2026. After that date, no new claims will be accepted under the current settlement process.
Who May Be Eligible?
Not every Amazon Prime subscriber qualifies for a payment. The settlement applies only to certain U.S. customers who signed up for Prime during a specified period and meet several additional conditions. Generally, eligible consumers include those who enrolled in Prime between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025 through one of the enrollment methods challenged in the lawsuit or who attempted to cancel their membership but found the online cancellation process unsuccessful or misleading. Another important requirement involves how much the membership was used. Customers who frequently used Prime benefits may not qualify, while those with relatively limited use during a 12-month period could still be eligible for compensation.

How Much Could Customers Receive?
Approved claimants may receive a refund worth up to $51, although the final payment amount can vary depending on individual circumstances and the number of approved claims. Some eligible customers already received automatic payments shortly after the settlement received court approval in late 2025. Those individuals do not need to submit another claim. However, many others must complete the claims process before becoming eligible for payment. Claims are reviewed before any money is distributed, and approved payments are expected to be issued later in 2026.
Filing a Claim
Customers who received a notice by email or mail can use the Claim ID and PIN included in that notification to complete their application. Others who believe they qualify may also be able to submit a claim by explaining how they unintentionally enrolled in Prime or experienced problems while trying to cancel their membership. The official settlement website includes detailed instructions, eligibility information, and the online claim form. Claims can be submitted electronically before the deadline. Beware of Scams
Because large settlements often attract scammers, consumer protection officials are urging people to be cautious. The Federal Trade Commission has warned that it will never contact consumers asking them to pay a fee in order to receive a settlement payment. Likewise, Amazon will not ask customers to send money, purchase gift cards, or provide sensitive financial information to claim compensation. Anyone receiving suspicious emails, phone calls, or text messages claiming to guarantee a refund should treat them with caution and verify any information through the official settlement website.

Don’t Miss the Deadline
With only a few days remaining before the filing window closes, eligible Prime members are encouraged to review the settlement requirements as soon as possible. While not every subscriber qualifies, those who meet the eligibility criteria could receive compensation for membership fees paid during the covered period. Waiting until after the July 27 deadline could mean permanently losing the opportunity to file a claim. The settlement represents one of the largest consumer refund programs involving an online subscription service in recent years. For eligible customers who have not yet acted, now is the time to determine whether they qualify and complete the claims process before the deadline expires.
