Selena Gomez is pushing back against a lawsuit filed by investors connected to Wondermind, the mental-health startup she co-founded with her mother, Mandy Teefey, and entrepreneur Daniella Pierson. The legal dispute has placed fresh attention on the company’s troubled history, with investors accusing its founders of misleading them before they invested nearly $1.2 million.
Gomez’s legal team has strongly rejected the allegations. Her attorney, Mathew S. Rosengart, said the claims accusing the singer of fraud or other wrongdoing are “completely meritless” and confirmed that Gomez intends to file a motion seeking dismissal of the claims against her.
Investors Accuse Wondermind of Misleading Them
The lawsuit was filed in federal court in Delaware by Wondermind SRS 44 LLC and Bespoke Wondermind LLC. According to the allegations, investors were persuaded to provide substantial funding after being given representations about Wondermind’s infrastructure, leadership, resources and future plans. The investors claim they put approximately $1.2 million into the company in 2022. They allege that the business was experiencing serious internal problems while they remained unaware of the extent of those difficulties. Among the allegations are claims that promised initiatives never materialized, including plans involving a mobile application and potential corporate partnerships. The investors also claim Gomez was expected to play an active role in promoting and developing the company.

Gomez Rejects the Fraud Allegations
Gomez’s attorney has made it clear that she intends to challenge the lawsuit rather than accept the accusations against her. According to the statement provided to PEOPLE, Rosengart said the allegations are false both factually and legally. He also confirmed that Gomez’s legal team will seek to have the claims dismissed. The response does not mean the allegations have been proven false in court. At this stage, the accusations remain claims made by the plaintiffs, while Gomez and her legal team are disputing them.
Her Role at Wondermind
Wondermind was launched in 2021 as a platform focused on mental fitness and mental health. Gomez was a co-founder and was associated with the company as chief impact officer and head of marketing. The investors’ complaint argues that Gomez’s celebrity profile and large social-media following were important parts of the company’s fundraising strategy. They allege that representations about her involvement helped convince them that Wondermind had significant potential. Gomez’s side, however, says she invested millions of dollars of her own money into the company over the years. A source close to the singer previously told PEOPLE that she contributed additional money after learning about a recent financial setback. The source also emphasized that Gomez was not involved in Wondermind’s daily operations.
A Company Facing Serious Problems
The lawsuit follows earlier reporting about financial and management problems inside Wondermind. In 2025, reports raised questions about the company’s operations, while Forbes later reported difficulties involving payments to employees. Investors say they did not fully understand how serious the company’s problems had become until reports about its internal struggles appeared publicly. Their lawsuit alleges that Wondermind had been deteriorating while they were not adequately informed about its condition. The allegations have also drawn attention to disagreements between the company’s founders. Pierson, who previously served as co-CEO alongside Teefey, has categorically denied the allegations against her. Teefey has not publicly responded to the latest lawsuit.

What Happens Next?
Gomez’s planned motion to dismiss will become an important next step in the case. If the court grants the request, some or all of the claims against her could be dismissed. If it is denied, the litigation could continue and potentially move into a much longer legal process. For now, there has been no finding that Gomez committed fraud. The lawsuit represents allegations from investors, while Gomez’s legal team is firmly contesting them. The controversy nevertheless represents a significant challenge for the singer and entrepreneur. Wondermind was created around the goal of encouraging conversations about mental health, but its financial and management troubles have now placed the company at the center of a major legal dispute. As the case develops, attention will likely remain focused on Gomez’s role in the company, what investors were told before committing their money and whether the court agrees with her legal team’s argument that the claims against her should be dismissed.
