On the morning of May 14, 2025, a disturbing discovery was made in the coastal town of Westerly, Rhode Island. A human leg bone was found on Everett Avenue, approximately 0.3 miles from Taylor Swift’s residence in the affluent Watch Hill neighborhood. The Westerly Police Department responded to the scene around 9:30 a.m., and the remains were subsequently sent to the Rhode Island Medical Examiner’s Office for further analysis.

The proximity of the remains to Swift’s property, known as “Holiday House,” quickly garnered public attention. Swift purchased the 11,000-square-foot mansion in 2013 for a reported $17.75 million. The home, which overlooks East Beach, was previously owned by Standard Oil heiress Rebekah West Harkness and is referenced in Swift’s song “The Last Great American Dynasty.”

Local resident Taylor Day, who was passing by the area during the police investigation, expressed her unease. “I saw three police cars—one undercover—two looked like Westerly town police officers, and there was a medical examiner pulling in behind me,” she said. “It kind of alarmed me, and it was just something very out of the ordinary for Westerly.”

Despite the unsettling nature of the discovery, authorities have stated that no foul play is suspected at this time. The identity of the remains is still pending confirmation by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

This incident has fueled speculation among residents and online communities, particularly given that it marks the 13th set of human remains found in the New England area since March. These discoveries span across Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island, leading to theories about a possible serial killer operating in the region.

However, law enforcement officials have consistently refuted these claims. Westerly Police Chief Paul Gingerella emphasized that there is no evidence linking the cases. “As far as I’m concerned, as far as right now, this has nothing to do with any serial killer or any New England murderer,” he stated.

Further investigation revealed that the remains found near Swift’s home belong to Kevin Poissant, a 61-year-old local man who had been reported missing since March. The Rhode Island Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the identification and reported no signs of foul play.

The discovery near Swift’s residence has undoubtedly unsettled the typically serene community of Watch Hill. While the incident appears to be an isolated case, it serves as a reminder of the importance of community vigilance and the need for thorough investigations to address public concerns.
