America has always fascinated me, and after exploring cities like Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and New York, Nashville was next on my dream list. As a huge country music fan, the idea of dancing in cowboy boots on Broadway was irresistible. I finally made it there, and Nashville did not disappoint. Here’s everything you need to know for your own unforgettable adventure!
Where to Stay in Nashville
Noelle Nashville: A Stylish Escape
During my week-long trip, I stayed at two incredible boutique hotels. The first was Noelle, a beautiful, restored 1930s building filled with character and charm. Located just four blocks from the Honky Tonk bars, it offered the perfect balance between lively downtown life and a peaceful retreat. Noelle wasn’t just a hotel—it was an experience. It had a cozy coffee shop perfect for morning planning, a delightful gift shop, a modern Mexican restaurant serving top-tier margaritas, and even a hidden speakeasy for late-night drinks. It was a stylish oasis that captured the heart of the city.
Bobby Hotel: Rock ‘n’ Roll Vibes
Next, I stayed at Bobby Nashville, a hotel that oozed rock ‘n’ roll charm. With leather couches, moody lighting, and music-themed decor, it felt like stepping into a rock star’s living room. The rooftop was the highlight—offering a bar, a pool, lawn games, and stunning views of downtown Nashville. It was the perfect place to start an evening or wind down after a busy day.
What to Do in Nashville
Visit the Grand Ole Opry
No trip to Nashville is complete without a visit to the Grand Ole Opry. This iconic live country-music radio broadcast hosts some of the biggest names in the industry. Even if you’re not a hardcore country fan, the history and energy of the Opry are undeniable. I was lucky enough to hear Lady A perform ‘Need You Now’—a truly magical moment.
Catch an Ice Hockey Game
Nashville’s hockey team, the Predators, known as the “Preds,” bring a level of excitement that’s contagious. Even as a newbie to hockey, I found myself cheering passionately alongside the locals. The Bridgestone Arena’s location, right on Broadway, makes it easy to hop from the game straight into the city’s famous nightlife.
Explore Broadway
Broadway is the heartbeat of Nashville, pulsing with live music from morning until late into the night. Every bar boasts a live band, and many are co-owned by country stars like Miranda Lambert, Luke Combs, and Morgan Wallen. Singing ‘Man! I Feel Like A Woman!’ at Wallen’s This Bar with a live band was a memory I’ll never forget. Yes, it’s touristy—but it’s also pure, joyful fun.
Spend a Day in East Nashville
For a break from the tourist crowds, head to East Nashville. This artsy, laid-back neighborhood is packed with dive bars, indie boutiques, and craft coffee shops. It’s where Nashville’s creatives live, and it offers a more authentic, local experience.
Where to Eat in Nashville
Edley’s Bar-B-Que
Edley’s Bar-B-Que was hands-down my favorite food stop. Serving classic Southern barbeque, their brisket was tender enough to melt in your mouth, and their famous banana pudding was the perfect finish.
Arnold’s Country Kitchen
This family-owned spot is famous for its “meat and three” tradition—one meat, three sides. Open only for weekday lunches, Arnold’s serves hearty, satisfying meals that will leave you full for hours.
Bad Idea: A Cool Wine Bar
In East Nashville, Bad Idea is a must-visit. This trendy wine bar located in a restored church offers Laotian-fusion dishes and an impressive wine selection. It’s no wonder The New York Times named it a top spot to visit.
Prince’s Hot Chicken
Even though I’m not usually a fried chicken fan, Prince’s Hot Chicken won me over. Their perfectly seasoned chicken tenders and classic Southern sides made it one of the most memorable meals of the trip.
Final Thoughts: Nashville’s Soul
I came to Nashville for the music and fun, but I fell in love with its welcoming locals, incredible food scene, and vibrant energy. Nashville didn’t just meet my expectations—it blew them away.
