In a significant development for the Chrisley family, Savannah Chrisley recently shared her reaction to the news that her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, would be receiving presidential pardons from former President Donald Trump. The couple had been convicted in 2022 on charges of tax evasion and bank fraud, leading to prison sentences of 12 and 7 years, respectively.

Savannah recounted that she received the unexpected call from President Trump while shopping at Sam’s Club. In a video posted on Instagram, she expressed her disbelief and excitement, stating, “The President called me personally as I was walking into Sam’s Club and notified me that he was signing pardon paperwork for both of my parents. So both my parents are coming home tonight or tomorrow and I still don’t believe it’s real. I’m freaking out” .

Following the announcement, Savannah, along with her siblings Chase and Grayson, began preparing for their parents’ return home. She mentioned gathering clothes and setting up their room, adding, “I’m just speechless” .

In a statement to E! News, Savannah expressed her gratitude towards President Trump for granting the pardons, saying, “This moment is the answer to countless prayers, and I am beyond grateful to President Trump for seeing the truth and restoring my family.” She also emphasized her commitment to advocating for others facing similar legal challenges, stating, “Today is a victory for our family, but the fight against wrongful convictions and injustice within our prison system is far from over. I will continue to use my voice and platform to advocate for those who do not have one” .

The Chrisleys’ legal troubles began in August 2019 when they were indicted on 12 counts, including wire fraud, conspiracy to commit bank fraud, and conspiracy to defraud the United States. Prosecutors alleged that the couple had defrauded banks out of more than $30 million over a decade. Despite pleading not guilty, they were convicted on all counts in June 2022.

President Trump’s decision to pardon the Chrisleys came after advocacy from criminal justice reform advocate Alice Marie Johnson, who presented their case to the former president. In a phone call with Savannah and Grayson, Trump stated, “Your parents are going to be free and clean, and I hope we can do it by tomorrow. Is that OK? We’ll try getting it done tomorrow” .

The pardons are expected to be finalized by the end of May 28, 2025, allowing Todd and Julie Chrisley to return home and reunite with their family.
