The child’s father, 33-year-old Justin Smith, was involved in a fatal accident on May 3rd. According to the Louisiana State Police, Justin’s vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree in St. Tammany Parish. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Just five days later, on May 8th, the boy’s mother, 31-year-old Emily Johnson, was killed in a separate car accident in the same parish.
